Depends on the style chosen. Full masonry fireplaces need to be planned from the beginning to have correct footings and room designed for the chimney through the roof. Veneer masonry is best to be completed after paint and before flooring. There are times where the flooring is installed prior to masonry.
That depends on what your project entails. With an insert installed and framing completed, the process can take a day to a week. We have built full masonry Rumford fireplaces that took up to a month to complete.
